Executive Summary
AlMahasin Foundation for Development & Education, in partnership with King
Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief), intends to rehabilitate
four orphan care centers across Somalia. This Expression of Interest (EOI) invites
qualified and experienced construction firms to apply for prequalification. The
selected firms will be invited to participate in the forthcoming tender process.
1. Introduction
AlMahasin Foundation for Development & Education (AlMahasin) is a national
non-governmental, non-profit organization registered in the Federal Republic of
Somalia. AlMahasin has extensive experience in implementing humanitarian and
development projects in the sectors of protection, education, shelter, WASH,
livelihoods, and infrastructure rehabilitation, with a strong focus on vulnerable
children and orphans.
Within the framework of the Joint Implementation Program signed between
AlMahasin Foundation and KSrelief, AlMahasin hereby invites qualified and
experienced construction and rehabilitation companies to submit their
Expression of Interest (EOI) for pre-qualification to participate in a
forthcoming tender for the rehabilitation of four (4) orphan care centers
located in different regions of Somalia.

2. Project Background
The selected orphan care centers currently face infrastructure deterioration,
inadequate sanitation facilities, and limited safety features. The rehabilitation
aims to improve living conditions, ensure safety and dignity, and provide a
supportive environment for vulnerable children.

4. Scope of Work (Summary)
The scope of work is limited only to rehabilitation and minor construction
works for the following orphan centers:
1. Omar Bin Al-Khattab Orphan Center – Baidoa (South West State)
2. Umm Al-Mu’minin Aisha Orphan Girls Center – Mogadishu
(Banadir Region)
3. Umm Badr Orphan Center – Afgoye (Lower Shabelle/ South West
State)
4. Jami’ Al-Ummah Orphan Center – Adado (Galmudug State)
Indicative rehabilitation activities include, but are not limited to:
General building rehabilitation and refurbishment works
Roof repairs and waterproofing
Repair/replacement of doors and windows
Internal and external painting
Rehabilitation and construction of sanitation facilities
(latrines/bathrooms)
Plumbing and drainage works
Construction or rehabilitation of kitchen facilities (where applicable)
Minor electrical works
